Airspace Experience Technologies (ASX: iflyasx.com) has a limited number of technical positions available for talented individuals passionate about flight. ASX has over a decade of eVTOL engineering and flight experience and is currently building a full-size development vehicle, the Sigma Six, for flight evaluations at its Detroit City Airport Engineering Center. The performance envelope of this electric aircraft exceeds that of high-end supercars and its operating cost on a $/lb./mile/hour basis is less than a class 8 truck. Job Description

We are looking for a skilled mechanical engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for working on all stages of our production cycles, from research and design to manufacturing parts, installation, and evaluation. You should be a highly creative individual with the ability to develop innovative solutions for design challenges. The selected candidate will also have the ability to communicate technical ideas in a clear manner, both written and verbal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (master's preferred)
  • Hands-on experience working in the mechanical engineering field
  • Computer skills with solid experience in CAD and CAM programs
  • Ability to run linear and non-linear simulations, and analyze test data
  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation
  • Knowledge of systems engineering guidelines such as ASIL or ARP 4754/4761
  • Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Capable of developing innovative, creative solutions for challenging issues that meet functional requirements

Responsibilities

  • Designing, manufacturing, and installing aircraft components
  • Assisting in COTS component selection and supplier development
  • Contributing to specifications development
  • Analyzing problems or deficiencies and developing solutions to resolve them
  • Conducting experiments and evaluations to improve and innovate product designs
  • Creating plans and designs using Solidworks CAD
  • Estimating budgets and time scopes for each project
  • Writing technical documentation for design, manufacturing, testing and
  • certification
  • Ensuring that products exceed requirement specifications
  • Assisting in BOM maintenance

Skills

  • Master's degree preferable.
  • Extensive practical hands-on experience desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Practical experience with Solidworks CAD software.
  • Excellent motivational skills and multitasking abilities.
  • Six Sigma or equivalent training
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills
  • SAE race team and/or flight experience highly desirable
